穐吉敏子

龝吉 敏子（あきよし としこ、Toshiko Akiyoshi、1929年12月12日 - ）は、ニューヨーク在住の日本人ジャズピアニスト、作曲家、編曲家、ビッグバンドリーダー。（Wikipedia）。

1967年に現在の夫でありフルート、テナーサックス奏者のルー・タバキンと出会い、1969年結婚。1972年にニューヨークからロサンゼルスに引っ越してきた秋吉敏子とルー・タバキン夫妻が、ウェストコーストの一流ミュージシャンを集めたビッグバンドを結成したのは73年のことだ。1973年にロサンゼルスで秋吉敏子＝ルー・タバキンビッグバンドを結成し、1974年、ジャズと日本古来の和楽を融合した『孤軍』を発表する。本作では、76年1月、記念すべき初来日公演の快演が甦る。

そして、西海岸で活躍していた彼らが、はじめてニューヨークで公演を行ったのは、77年6月29日のこと。「ニューポート・ジャズ・フェステイヴァル・イン・ニューヨーク」のプログラムの一環として、リンカーン･センター内の工イヴリー・フィッシャー・ホールで行われたコンサートは、満員の聴衆を熱狂させる、すぼらしい内容のものだった。
