Biography

1928年11月13日 Californnia 州 LA 生れ。77年5月22日、LA の病院で脳出 血のため物故。ハイスクール卒業後、Dexter Gordon, Wardel Gray らと演奏。51〜52年に Shorty Rodgers, Howard Rumsey のバンドに加わり、才能を認められた。その後軍隊にとられ、除隊後の 54年にトリオを結成、名声を得た。50年代末には麻薬に冒され暫くジャズ界から 離れていた。64年に復帰、以後、ジャズ祭や楽旅で活躍。
