ビリー・ホリデイ(Billie Holiday, 1915年4月7日 - 1959年7月17日)はアメリカ合衆国の黒人女性ジャズ歌手。「レディ・デイ」の呼称で知られる。サラ・ヴォーンやエラ・フィッツジェラルドと並んで、ジャズ史上最高の歌手の一人に数えられる。彼女の生涯に於いて代表的なレパートリーであった「Strange Fruit (奇妙な果実) 」や「God Bless' the Child (神よめぐみを)」、「I Love You, Porgy (アイ・ラブ ・ ユー、ポーギー) 」、「Fine and Mellow (ファイン・アンド・メロウ) 」は、後年、多くのミュージシャンに取り上げられるジャズ・ヴォーカルの古典となった。(Wikipedia)
